Audit Shield is an insurance product that covers your professional fees if you're selected for an IRD audit or review. We offer it to all our clients as an optional add-on.
IRD audits can happen to anyone, and they don't have to mean you've done anything wrong. IRD regularly reviews returns as part of their compliance programme. But an audit takes time to deal with. Gathering records, responding to queries, working through the process with IRD. That time is billable, and without Audit Shield, those fees come out of your pocket.
With Audit Shield in place, we handle the audit on your behalf and the insurance covers our fees. You don't get a bill for our time, and you don't have to deal with IRD directly.
The cover is arranged annually and the premium depends on the type of return. We'll let you know what it costs for your situation and whether it makes sense for you. There's no pressure to take it up. It's simply there if you want the peace of mind. it.
